A portrait crop for Instagram

Turn a wide photo into a 4:5 portrait crop. Remove the edges you do not need without stretching the subject.

Exported dimensions
600 × 750 px

How to do it

  1. Open the photo and choose the 4:5 aspect ratio.
  2. Move the crop area to keep the subject in the frame.
  3. Apply the crop and check the exported image.

Cropping changes the frame; it does not stretch the photo.

Practical example and settings

Example: For a square portrait, choose 1:1, move the frame over the subject and apply the crop. For a vertical post, choose 4:5. A crop removes pixels outside the frame; it does not create a fixed 1080 × 1350 output.

Choose your settings: Drag inside the selected frame to move it, or use a corner or edge to resize it. After cropping, switch to Resize if a platform requires exact pixel dimensions.

If the result is unexpected: If an important detail is cut off, undo and move or enlarge the selection. Social presets are starting proportions; preview the image on the destination platform because its display may crop it again.

Questions about this tool

Do social presets resize the image?

No. They set crop proportions only; the displayed reference size does not enlarge or resize your image. Use Resize for exact output dimensions.

Can I move the frame after selecting it?

Yes. Drag inside the frame to move it, use an edge or corner handle to resize, or enter exact coordinates.

How privacy works

Good to know

File limits, export quality and local processing.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The editor reads the image you select and processes it locally in your browser. We do not receive or store your image.

Which files can I use?

Static JPG, PNG and WebP images up to 15 MB and 16 megapixels, with no side longer than 8,192 pixels. GIF, HEIC, SVG, RAW and animated images are not supported.

Will a smaller file have the same quality?

JPG and WebP compression can remove detail. Compare the prepared result before downloading. PNG export is lossless for the edited pixels, but the file can be larger than the original.

Can PicMender find faces automatically?

Yes. Use Find faces automatically to suggest areas, then check and adjust them. Detection can miss faces or select the wrong area. Manual rectangles and circles remain available, and edits are included in the downloaded image.

Does it preserve camera metadata?

The editor creates a new image from pixels; original camera metadata, colour profiles and print resolution are not retained as an editing feature. Colours and fine detail may differ from the original.
